History & Trends

Filtering Your Health Timeline

Learn how to filter your health history to focus on specific metrics and data types.

The "Health" sub-tab can contain a lot of information. To make it easier to find what you're looking for, you can filter the timeline to show only a single type of metric.

Why Use Filters?

Benefits of Filtering

Focus on what matters:

  • View only the metrics you're currently tracking
  • Eliminate noise from unused data types
  • Compare entries of the same type easily

Faster navigation:

  • Scroll through less data
  • Find specific readings quickly
  • Track progress for one metric

Better analysis:

  • See patterns for individual metrics
  • Compare values over time
  • Identify trends more easily

How to Filter Your Timeline

Step 1: Navigate to the History tab and ensure the Health sub-tab is selected

Step 2: Tap the filter icon (⚙️) in the top right corner of the screen

Step 3: A "Filter by Type" sheet will appear, listing all available health metric categories

Step 4: Tap on a specific metric to filter your timeline

Step 5: The timeline now shows only entries for that metric

Tips for Effective Filtering

Common Use Cases

Track a specific goal:

  • Filter to "Steps" to monitor walking progress
  • Filter to "Weight" to track weight management
  • Filter to "Sleep Analysis" to improve sleep

Monitor a condition:

  • Filter to "Blood Pressure" for hypertension tracking
  • Filter to "Blood Glucose" for diabetes management
  • Filter to "Heart Rate" for cardiovascular health

Prepare for appointments:

  • Filter to relevant metrics before doctor visits
  • Export filtered data to share
  • Review trends in specific areas

Filter Strategies

Single metric focus:

  • Use when tracking a specific health goal
  • Ideal for comparing day-to-day changes
  • Best for detailed analysis

Category browsing:

  • View all vitals together
  • Compare related fitness metrics
  • Get broader health picture

Rotate filters regularly:

  • Check different metrics on different days
  • Don't ignore less frequent measurements
  • Maintain awareness of overall health

Saving Common Filters

Quick Access (Future Feature)

While not currently available, future versions may include:

  • Favorite filters
  • Custom filter combinations
  • Quick filter shortcuts
  • Named filter presets

Current workaround:

  • Remember your most-used filters
  • Access them quickly via the filter menu

Filtering on Other Tabs

Meals Tab

The Meals tab has its own filtering options:

Filter by meal type:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner
  • Snacks

Filter by date range:

  • Today
  • This week
  • This month
  • Custom range

Check-ins Tab

The Check-ins tab can be filtered by:

Mood level:

  • Positive check-ins
  • Neutral check-ins
  • Negative check-ins

Symptoms:

  • Specific symptom types
  • Severity levels
  • Symptom combinations

Understanding Filtered Results

Data Completeness

When viewing filtered results, remember:

What you see:

  • Only entries matching the selected filter
  • Complete history for that data type
  • All sources for that metric

What's hidden:

  • All other health metrics
  • Data from different categories
  • Unrelated measurements

Why this matters:

  • Filtered view is a subset, not the complete picture
  • Always return to "All Types" for full context
  • Don't draw conclusions from filtered data alone

Performance Benefits

Faster Loading

Filtering improves app performance:

Reduced data volume:

  • Fewer entries to load and display
  • Faster scrolling through timeline
  • Quicker chart rendering

Targeted sync:

  • May speed up data refresh
  • More efficient data processing
  • Better battery life

📊 Analysis Tip

When analyzing your health, start with the full timeline (All Types) to get context, then apply specific filters to dive deep into metrics of interest. This approach helps you see both the forest and the trees.

⚡ Quick Filter Tip

Create a mental "weekly rotation" of filters to check. For example: Monday - Heart health, Wednesday - Activity, Friday - Sleep. This ensures you regularly review all important health areas without feeling overwhelmed.
