Troubleshooting
Why Isn't My Apple Health Data Showing Up?
Troubleshoot common issues with Apple Health data not syncing or displaying in Sunu.
This is usually due to permissions or a delay in data syncing. Here are the steps to resolve it.
🤖 On Android?
If you're on Android and data from Health Connect isn't appearing, see the troubleshooting section in Connecting to Health Connect (Android).
Step 1: Check Apple Health Permissions
First, ensure that Sunu has permission to read your data.
How to check:
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on "Health"
Step 3: Tap on "Data Access & Devices"
Step 4: Find and tap on "Sunu"
Step 5: Make sure that the toggles for the health categories you want to share are turned ON
Recommendation: For the best experience, use "Turn On All" to enable all categories at once.
Step 2: Force a Refresh in Sunu
After confirming permissions, you can trigger a manual data refresh.
How to refresh:
Step 1: Open the Sunu app
Step 2: Navigate to the Home tab or the History tab
Step 3: Pull down from the top of the screen until you see a loading spinner
Step 4: Release to refresh
Result: The app will sync the latest data from Apple Health.
Step 3: Check Background App Refresh
For data to sync automatically in the background, Background App Refresh should be enabled.
How to enable:
Step 1: Open the Settings app
Step 2: Go to "General" > "Background App Refresh"
Step 3: Ensure it is enabled for both Wi-Fi and Cellular Data
Step 4: Scroll down and ensure the toggle for Sunu is turned on
Why this matters: Background refresh allows Sunu to update data even when you're not actively using the app.
Additional Troubleshooting Steps
Restart Your iPhone
If the above steps don't work:
Step 1: Press and hold the power button (and volume button on newer iPhones)
Step 2: Slide to power off
Step 3: Wait 30 seconds
Step 4: Power back on
Step 5: Open Sunu and check if data appears
Check Apple Health App
Verify data exists:
Step 1: Open the Health app
Step 2: Browse to the category (e.g., Heart, Activity)
Step 3: Confirm data is actually there
Step 4: Check the date/time of last entries
If no data in Health app: The issue is with data collection, not Sunu.
Verify Device Connectivity
For Apple Watch users:
Step 1: Ensure Watch is paired with iPhone
Step 2: Check that Watch data is syncing to Health app
Step 3: Open Health app to confirm Watch data appears
Step 4: Then check Sunu
For other devices:
Step 1: Open the device's companion app
Step 2: Verify it's connected and syncing
Step 3: Force a sync if available
Step 4: Check Apple Health for updated data
Step 5: Then refresh Sunu

🔄 Quick Fix
In most cases, simply opening Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Sunu and tapping "Turn On All," then pulling to refresh in the Sunu app solves the issue. This is the first thing to try!
⏱️ Patience Sometimes Needed
After a workout or sleep session, it can take a few minutes for data to flow from your Apple Watch to the Health app, and then to Sunu. If you just finished an activity, wait 5-10 minutes, then pull to refresh in Sunu.
